Configuring up WooCommerce Settings…

  1. When I go to check out of my store and click on Pay Pal checkout I get an item on my screen that says “10002 – Security header is not valid”. What do I need to do.

    • Lowell, I can see you put your API credentials in WooCommerce-Settings-Checkout-PaypalExpressCheckout. The error message you’re getting tells me that there is an error in one of the three parts of the API Signature. The third one is extremely long. I would triple click inside the field to select and then delete. Make sure all is deleted before you paste it in again. I would copy and paste…which you probably did…don’t try to type it in because it’s so long there’s a lot of room for error. You might also check the other two as well. Save the page and then test it in your cart again. This shows a quick way to get to your PayPal account and API Signature. http://ctewebsite.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/API-Credentials-link.png
Let me know if you still get the error message. ~~Jan

  2. Does the taxes area give a school a place to put in their tax I’d and thus not pay taxes when individuals do pay taxes?

    • Lowell, I’m sure what your question is…if you’re doing an onsite training at a school they won’t buy books from your store. Books for an onsite training are put into the worksheet and contract your director helps you with…CTE invoices them and ships them the books. You sell to individuals on your website. ~~Jan

          • I assume there is no place for the tax Id to avoid paying a tax. Nothing really says that.

          • No, not that I’m aware of.

  3. The last five minutes of this tutorial is vastly different from what I see when doing this. Plus there is an extra tab labeled API after the email tab.

  4. Hi,

How long does it take for us to receive the confirmation to change the e-mail under Settings-General?

    Reply
    • Alicia,
I checked your Settings>General and it looks like your email change is okay…sometimes you don’t have to confirm. I deleted what was below your email where it said a confirmation was sent to change it to my email address. I also looked in WooCommerce>Settings>Emails and it looks like it picked up your email address. It also looks like you changed your Contact Form 1 to go to your email address, so it looks good to me.

  5. Jan,
Can we enable PayPal Credit? It is one of the options in checkout. If enabled, it would “Show the PayPal Credit button next to the Express Checkout button.”

    Just wondering! 🙂
    Thanks!

    • Kay,
Yes, you can activate that if you want. It appears close to the other button that’s there. I’m trying to figure out the CSS code needed to separate them a little more…haven’t been successful at it yet.

  7. I changed my email address in settings – general to kemikalu@timetoteach.com and I have not received any confirmation link to activate the new email. It’s been 2 weeks. It still says “There is a pending change of the admin e-mail to jlsols@gmail.com. Cancel”.

    Thank you.

    • Hi Kemi,

I clicked cancel here: There is a pending change of the admin e-mail to jlsols@gmail.com. Cancel”.
Then I Saved the page. Now your email is there and mine is not. The above message is also gone.

Let me know if you need more assistance.

  8. Hi Jan, I went into general settings to make sure my email was there. It is, but I have a message that reads There is a pending change of the admin e-mail to jlsols@gmail.com. I put my email in several days ago, is this something you click on your end? I don’t remember receiving an email about this. I will double check.

    Thanks,
    Gail

    • Hi Gail!
In your Settings>General I clicked Cancel (next to my email address). I then saved the page. It looks like your email is the only one there now. Please check it out and if my email address is still there, let me know.

  9. Hi Jan,

I followed the directions for woo commerce. Just to make sure my Pay Pal information worked, I ordered something. I received the following error message at the top of the page: 10002 – Security header is not valid.

I also was not able to use the credit card information in case I did not have a pay pal account. What should I do next? Thanks for your assistance.

    • Jacqueline, usually that error message means that you haven’t entered the PayPal API credentials correctly. An extra space at the end of one of the credentials can cause an error. Or sometimes people don’t put all the characters. The first thing I would like for you to do is re-enter those, then save the page and try to buy something again.
Please let me know what happens. ~~Jan

  10. Hi Jan,

Hope things are well. Hey, which tutorial discusses SEO and keywords? I want to add/change keywords for my site.

    Thanks,

    • Hi, Dave!

I haven’t done a tutorial on SEO and keywords.

We have a plugin for SEO that will help you. On each page in edit mode you can open the WordPress SEO by Yoast by going to the top right and clicking on Screen Options, check WordPress SEO by Yoast. It will open up on the page. It could already be open on each page.

If you want more info on Yoast and what to do, here’s a fairly short YouTube video on what to do once you open that up. You can ignore the parts on installing…of course it’s already installed on our sites.

Hope you find something in the video that helps!

When I try to use my cart..I’m not given the option to check out with a credit card only.

Did I set up something wrong in my PayPal account?

    Thanks,

    • Tony,

Give me a few days to work this out. I’m aware of the issue and have asked our developer to do updates on our WooCommerce plugin. I also informed him of the issue you are having.

I’ll get back to you as progress is made. Thanks for reporting this issue!

  12. When a customer orders a product. Is it sent from the warehouse or do I order it and then ship it to the customer?

    Reply
    • Jeannine, the product is sent to your customer by you, so yes, you need to order the product. The money from the customer goes into your PayPal account. You then go into your PayPal account and transfer the money to your bank account.
