Login to the backend of your site…

Your WordPress site has two parts. The public frontend is what your visitors see when they come and visit your site. It also has the private backend or what we call the WordPress admin panel, and this is where you manage your site and make changes to your site.

Visiting the backend of your site requires logging in. Open the browser of your choice such as Firefox, Chrome, Safari or Internet Explorer. In the address bar, type in your domain name followed by /wp-admin . I have typed in ctewebsite.com/wp-admin which is the domain name that I’m using. Now press enter or return on your keyboard.

This takes us to the login page. Enter your username and password that was emailed to you. This takes you to the backend of your website, and you can see a dashboard here and I’ll be explaining that in the next tutorial.

In the top right corner you can click and log out if you choose to do so. Logging out takes you back to the login page.

  1. Hi Jan,
I love your tutorials and To Do List. I haven’t had trouble until this step. I seemed to have followed all steps in the tutorial, but when I tried testing it by sending myself a quote, I ran into trouble. I filled out the required fields, clicked “send” and got forever rotating arrows, yet no email. I tried several times and waited a long time for each.

    • Hi Rhonda,
I’m sorry for the delayed reply…I’m in the process of replacing the contact form plugin with with a new, more reliable one. I’ll let you know when I get this done.

I’m glad you’re finding the tutorials and ToDoList helpful!

I figured it out, but now my password isn’t working, and I’m putting in the username and password right from the e-mail

I followed the protocol and established a new password, and it worked.
But when I go on the back panel of my website the right side of the page in different than the right side of the video, no place to log out.

All is well, I didn’t realize I had to click in the corner to get the log on drop down.
My back page is exactly like the video.
